About the Artists

A gifted and respected Oregon-born portrait artist and woodworker, Stan Bookman dreamed of creating the ultimate artistic puzzle. The intricate, fascinating and beautifully crafted Mt. Baker Puzzle Book is the realization of that vision.

Connie's love of the mountains, ocean and forests brought her from Wisconsin to Washington State where her recreational time has been spent camping and hiking with her two daughters and her dogs. Though a very family-oriented person, Connie has found time for a wide variety of art projects while supporting the regional art scene.

Stan's complex Mt. Baker Puzzle Book creation offers Connie the opportunity to combine her artistic talents and knowledge with her love of the Pacific Northwest native woods.

From their self-built mill near Mount Baker in Washington State, Stan and Connie search their property for the exquisite native woods used to create each original Mt. Baker Puzzle Book. Wood once headed for the fireplace is now carefully milled on site into beautiful puzzles, each designed with the artisan's gifted eye to reflect the exquisite grains and burls specific to each wood.
